The tournament is taking place in the Ugorian Chess Academy in the very heart of Khanty-Mansiysk, which has hosted three previous World Cups: 20052007, and 2009. The 128 participants hail from 46 different countries, and are playing for a total prize fund of US $1.6 million. In addition the first three finisher get tickets to the Candidates tournament in the next World Championship cycle.

World Chess Cup starts August 27th until September 20th in Khanty-Mansiysk







The World Cup is traditionally held on knock-out at 128 participants. Rate-a favorite at this time is the Russian Sergey Karjakin 2788. This is followed by the Ukraine-Azerbaijan Four: Vassily Ivanchuk 2768, Shakhriyar Mamedyarov 2765, Ruslan Ponomariov 2764, Vugar Gashimov 2760.

“ BAGUIO DAY CUP”
REGISTRATION:
1. EARLY REGISTRATION FEE ARE P150.00 FOR OPEN CATEGORY AND P150.00 FOR KIDDIES DIVISION
2. EARLY REGISTRATION STARTS ON AUGUST 1, 2011 AND DEAD LINE IS ON AUGUST 31, 2011 @ THE BCM CHESS GALLERY FROM 10AM-7PM.
3. LATE REGISTRATION FEE ARE P250.00 FOR OPEN CATEGORY AND P200.00 FOR KIDDIES DIVISION (FROM SEPTEMBER 1-3 @ 10am or before posting of pairings)
4. PARTICIPATING PLAYERS ARE REQUESTED TO FILL – UP THE REGISTRATION FORM AND SUBMIT THE SAME TO THE CHESS ATTENDANT.

ELIGIBILITY: THE TOURNAMENT IS OPEN TO ALL UNTITLED CHESS PLAYERS
TOURNAMENT SYSTEM:
1. THE 19TH BCM NON-MASTER CHESS TOURNAMENT WILL BE PLAYED IN 7 ROUNDS SWISS SYSTEM.
2. THE TIME CONTROL SHALL BE GAME 45 ( 45 MINUTES EACH PLAYER TO FINISH A GAME).
3. THE FIDE LAWS OF CHESS, UNLESS OTHERWISE STATED IN THESE RULES, SHALL GOVERN THE TOURNAMENT.
4. THE SWISS MANAGER PROGRAM SHALL BE USED FOR PAIRINGS.
5. RECORDING OF MOVES IS MANDATORY.
6. TIES SHALL BE BROKEN BY SWISS MANAGER TIE BREAKERS IN CASE AFTER THE 3 TIE BREAKERS HAS BEEN APPLIED AND THE PLAYERS ARE STILL TIED, THE CASH PRIZES SHALL BE SHARED EQUALLY AMONG THE TIED PLAYERS. PLAYERS WHO WIN TWO PRIZES SHALL RECEIVE ONLY THE LARGER ONE.

ARBITRATION: ANY PROTESTS AGAINST THE DECISION OF THE CHIEF ARBITER SHOULD BE SUBMITTED IN WRITING WITHIN HALF AN HOUR AFTER THE ROUND WITH A DEPOSIT FEE OF 1,000.00 WHICH SHALL BE REFUNDED IF THE PROTEST IS UPHELD.

PLAYERS CONDUCT:
1. NO ANALYSIS IS PERMITTED IN THE PLAYING AREA WHEN ANY GAME IS IN PROGRESS.
2. THE PLAYERS ARE NOT ALLOWED TO LEAVE THE PLAYING VENUE WITHOUT PERMISSION FROM THE ARBITER.THE PLAYING AREA, RESTROOMS, REFRESHMENT AREA, SMOKING AREA AND OTHER PLACES WILL BE DESIGNATED BY THE CHIEF ARBITER BEFORE THE START OF THE TOURNAMENT.
3. THE PLAYER WHO’S TURN TO MOVE IS NOT ALLOWED TO LEAVE THE PLAYING AREA WITHOUT PERMISSION FROM THE ARBITER.
4. THERE IS A BAN ON USING EITHER MOBILE PHONES OR ANY OTHER DEVICE THAT CAN DISTURB THE PLAYERS DURING THE GAMES. CELLPHONES HAVE TO BE SWITCHED OFF COMPLETELY IN THE PLAYING AREA. SILENT MODE IS NOT ALLOWED. ANY PLAYER WHOSE PHONE RINGS AND/OR UTILIZES ANY ELECTRONIC DEVICES DURING THE GAME SHALL AUTOMATICALLY LOSE THE GAME.
5. THE PLAYERS MUST LEAVE THE PLAYING AREA WHEN THEY HAVE FINISHED THEIR GAME.
6. ANY PLAYER WHO DEFAULTS HIS GAME WILL NOT BE PAIRED FOR THE NEXT ROUND UNLESS HE INFORMS THE TOURNAMENT OFFICIALS OF HIS INTENTION TO PLAY IN THE NEXT ROUND. HE MUST INFORM THE CHIEF ARBITER BEFORE THE END OF THE TIME FRAME OF THE ROUND HE DEFAULTED. A PLAYER WHO DEFAULTS TWO (2) TIMES SHALL BE EXCLUDED FROM THE REST OF THE TOURNAMENT.
7. PLAYERS WHO DID NOT FINISH THE GAME OR WERE EXCLUDED FROM THE TOURNMENT WILL BE METED CORRESPONDING PENALTIES (SUCH AS SUSPENSION FROM SUCCEEDING TOURNAMENTS).
8. PRIOR AGREEMENT BETWEEN PLAYERS AS TO THE RESULT OF INDIVIDUAL GAMES SHALL BE PENALIZED WITH THE UTMOST SEVERITY. IF ANY SUCH AGREEMENT IS PROVEN TO HAVE TAKEN PLACE, THE POINTS APPORTIONED BY THOSE INVOLVED SHALL BE ANNULED AND THE MATTER SHALL BE REFERRED TO THE TOURNAMENT 
9. BCM CHESS GALLERY GOUND RULES ALSO APPLIES TO THIS TOURNAMENT.
